Privately deployed models are "internal" while publicly deployed models are "external". Models are configured to display in the best way for you and your organization. Some models may make web search queries to the internet.

Internal Models

What they are: AI models that run on your own private and secure servers and infrastructure (such as Azure or Amazon Web Services).

Key characteristics:

• Your data stays within your organization's security boundaries
• Typically faster response times since they're on your network
• Subject to your company's data governance and compliance policies
• Best for handling sensitive or proprietary information

When to use them: When working with confidential company data, customer information, or any content that shouldn't leave your organization.

External Models

What they are: AI models provided by third-party companies through their APIs (like OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google).

Key characteristics:

• Often have the latest capabilities and features
• May have different usage limits or costs
• Data is processed by external providers (review their privacy policies)
• May offer specialized capabilities not available internally
